Start with what you want from the fireplace: heat, a visual focal point, or both. Then consider the space available and the fuel or power supply you can provide. Compare the shortlisted models by dimensions, installation requirements and stated heat output, where provided. A similar appearance does not mean two fireplaces suit the same room.

A built-in fireplace is integrated into a prepared wall, enclosure or furniture opening. A freestanding model has a body designed to stand separately. Both need the space and installation conditions specified for that model. A burner insert may require additional components to form a complete fireplace, so check what is included before planning the surround.

Compare ethanol fireplace models

Measure the available width, height and depth, and note the surrounding materials. The visible flame opening, the full appliance and the required installation opening can have different dimensions. Use the drawing for the exact model to check clearances and service access before finalising your wall or cabinetry.

The requirements depend on the fireplace type and the exact model. Check its installation documents for any flue, room ventilation, fuel supply, water or electrical connection requirements. Choose a model whose documentation explicitly allows your intended outdoor setting. A terrace photograph alone does not establish weather resistance or outdoor suitability. Tell us whether the location is covered or exposed, and share a photo so the proposed model and installation requirements can be reviewed.

A mantel or surround is the outer structure around the fireplace opening. The burner, insert or firebox may be a separate item. Check the product description and quotation for the supplied parts, then confirm that the opening and materials are suitable for your chosen fireplace.

You can send a preferred size, finish or drawing for review. Available options depend on the product family and the proposed installation. Include the model you like and the changes you need; feasibility, specifications, price and lead time must be confirmed in the quotation.
