Designing with flame: three SXKT scenes for one room
Treat adjustable fire as a layer of light. The result feels more intentional—and is easier to repeat from one evening to the next.
Most lighting plans separate task, ambient and accent light. A real flame belongs in that conversation too. The current SXKT Smart Bioethanol Fireplace specification lists stepless adjustment from 10% to 100%, with a stated 50–400 mm flame-height range. Its LCD displays flame output percentage alongside fuel level and indoor temperature, giving designers a useful reference during handover.
Start with the room, not the maximum flame
Before changing output, stand at the principal viewing points. Is the flame reflected in a television? Does a bright downlight flatten its colour? Can guests move safely when decorative lighting is dimmed? Correct those relationships first. A larger flame cannot repair an unbalanced lighting scene.
Create three named presets on a simple handover card: Quiet, Social and Feature. Record the displayed output percentage plus the lamps used in each scene. The exact visual effect will vary with the room, so test it on site.
Quiet: low-key fire for conversation
Use a lower output as a gentle accent for reading or relaxed conversation. Pair it with warm, indirect light and keep strong luminaires away from reflective metal and glazing. The aim is presence, not spectacle.
Social: a balanced everyday centrepiece
For a group setting, move toward a medium level and check the fireplace from every seat. The live listing confirms remote and smartphone-app control, which can make on-site adjustment convenient. Optional WiFi is listed separately, so confirm whether it is included in the configuration being quoted.
Feature: visual drama with circulation intact
A higher level can strengthen a long feature wall during a reception or showroom event. Keep paths, changes of level and exits adequately lit. Review heat-sensitive finishes, artwork and furnishings with the project professional rather than relying on appearance alone.
A four-point handover check
Record the LCD percentage.
List active room lights.
Check seats and entry points.
Keep the approved operating routine unchanged.
Important operating boundaries
Atmosphere planning never replaces the product manual. The live SXKT listing specifies 95% food-grade bioethanol, a gasification system and a 3–15 minute warm-up before ignition. Filling, starting, stopping, cooling and fault handling must follow the manual; never fill or service a hot or operating unit. Ventilation, clearances, enclosure materials and local rules should be confirmed for the exact installation.
